BACKGROUND

When the continent was young in its icy state Álgen had a very solitary life as there weren't many people around to talk to, but slowly and surely, nations started to crop up. She got to know many of the ancient nations and became less anti-social. However after the second ice age and the ice of the Arctic began to melt again Álgen was walking over it and it gave way under her. She was then frozen for almost a million years. When she thawed out she found the world had changed dramatically and there were new nations which replaced the old ones. Arctic talked to many of the nations, asking what was new and who the new ones were.

Arctic and Norway
After her people, the Saami, went to different lands when they found out they weren't the only people in the world, the first place they settled was in Norway. Álgen had been a bit intimidated by all of the change of the world that she had seen so far, it all seemed a bit much for her to take in and it didn't help when her people left causing her to feel a bit alone. However, she still watched the Saami to make sure they were doing ok, at least she knew about other people being around while they were on a learning curve and wanting to travel themselves. One day Arctic was sitting on a hill watching one of her tribes as they got one witht heir lives when she felt a tug on her coat. She turned her head to see a child, waist deep in snow, looking up at her with dull blue eyes. Álgen was confused by this boy, she didn't even know why he was up here by himself, surely his parents should be with him. He walked to a spot next to her and looked down at the tribe too with a blank expression. Arctic wondered if he was cold, children didn't last long without support and protection and he didn't seem to have any. It actually took her a couple of days to think through what to do but in the end decided to take him in herself if he was still alone. She found him in the same place as where she first saw him and she said she would look after him. Álgen soon found his name was Lukas Bondvik, the personification of Norway. Although he didn't speak much or show much emotion he became interested in Artic's magic and wanted to know how she performed her tricks so she agreed to show him a few things.

Arctic and Sweden
Álgen followed her people as they moved around, taking Lukas with her so he wasn't laft behind, keeping her word to look after him. Soon they went over the border into Sweden, the land didn't look too different and food wasn't as different either so they stayed for a while. In that time Norway had become a bit older and understood things more, he was a quick learner, it may of helped that he focused and didn't say much so he could concentrate. After a heavy snowfall Norway had gone to look around after informing Arctic, she understood people needed their space and agreed as long as he didn't go too far. AFter a while he came back but with a blond boy with brghter blue eyes. He had a straight face and a sharp stare and was taller than Norway. Álgen asked Lukas who this other boy was and he replied with the name Berwald Oxenstierna and said he was alone in the deep snow. Another child alone in another counrty, she had figured why that might be, it seemed the paernts of those who were personifications left them, Arctic didn't know why it just seemed to be that way. She crouched down and looked at Berwald, she seemed to be doing a good job with Lukas so far and he would be getting a bit lonely without someone around his age around so allowed the new boy come with them. She found Berwald was also very quiet, if even more quiet than Lukas but he did seem to try and interact with Norway and he did what he was told without question. So now the personification of Norway were in her protection and now so was Sweden.

Arctic and Finland
The thrid of the counrties the Saami entered was Finland. Álgen was walking with the two kids, they were just scouting around the area when they heard giggling. Arctic then noticed a small blond haired boy in the distance, not knowing if he was from her people or some other occupants that were already living in the land. After a while it turned out he had come from a Saami tribe but didn't seem to have anyone to look after him once again and the other two seemed to take an interest in this younger boy. The constant silence of the Lukas and Berwald was actually wearing a bit Álgen and she saw how happy this little one seemed so like the other two she look im in. However, Finland seemed more of a son to her since he had come directly from the Saami, unlike the other two which weren't completely Saami, Sweden actually had Viking in him. The boy was really quite joyful and always had a smile on his face which made Artic feel happy too, he was shorter than Berwald and around the same height as Norway. She'd found he was called Tino and he was the personification of Finland. Berwald seemed to take a strong interest in Tino and the younger boy would smile at him and play around.

Arctic and Russia
As Álgen travelled to see a little bit more of the world then go back to the Nordics she was looking after, she had also found an arctic fox cub which Tino had found and brought back, begging for it to come with them. With a chuckled Artic agreed, and the cub had followed her all over the place. After a while Arctic came across a small boy who was wearing a long coat and scarf which was ripped. He was lying in the snow after a strong snowstorm, she picked him up and wrapped him up in her coat. Since she was the coldest continent her body temperature was always high so she could keep warm. The small boy snuggled into her and looked up, opening his eyes to reveal two bright violet eyes, he smiled at her and she looked at him in awe. She was thinking who would leave such a small boy out in a storm as bad as that and how cold he was, surely parents wouldn't be this cold-hearted. Álgen took him with her and out he was another one of the new nations although it was small, his name was Ivan Braginski, or Russia as we know him now. He Seemed childish with his round face and smile and lively, he was also around the same height as Sweden. He and Finland played together the most as Lukas just sat minding his own business reading his book or working on his magic while Berwald just watched them. Arctic had her hands full with the four nations and enjoyed being around them with their different personalities, they all seemed to even each other out.

Known Languages: Mostly the old languages which most are dead languages and some modern languages. Her accent changes all the time depending on how she says something due to her being able to speak fluently in other languages.

Area: At the top of the world (XD) Just above the Nordics, Russia, Canada and Greenland

Personality: Can be outgoing, acts a bit cold towards everyone until she gets to know them, she is one of the oldest of the countries/continents, loves winter sports, not very sociable, short tempered, doesn't get creeped out or scared easily, can be protective and motherly after looking after Russia, Finland, Norway and Sweden

Hobies: snowboarding, skiing, using her ice aura, playing with her arctic fox Frost, watching over Russia mostly but also Canada, Finland and England

Likes: Snow, cold weather, her arctic fox Frost, extreme winter sports

Dislikes: Water, hot weather, complete change, nations that think they are so much better than everyone else, people who say magic doesn't exsist, people who think they know it all when they don't.

EXTRAS

Álgen uses a form of magic that is older and more powerful than most of England's magic, she uses her own ice aura to perform different spells which takes up a lot of her energy so she has to practice a lot to build up her stamina. She also has an arctic fox she found as a new born abandoned cub that is now her companion.

Before Álgen became the Arctic she has the choice of becoming the continent or becoming the personfication of winter because of the power she possesed, but when she saw the man who would become the Arctic if she chose to be the season she chose to be a continent. This made the General angry and ever since they have been icy enemies. However, deep down General Winter has a soft spot for Álgen, but he cannot torchure her with his winter rath since her magic uses ice element so he will be giving her energy. So when Arctic found the Nordics and Russia and looked after them, making that time the rarest of times when she would allow her feelings out General Winter decided to visit Russia more than the likes of Canada and the Nordics which causes Arctic to hate him with a passion.

Frost, Arctic's foxy companion, doesn't look like much apart from the sharp claws and teeth, he just looks like he could give you a bad scratch or bite. However, in extremely bad situations he will grow to 10X his size and look more wolf than fox. He is able to do this by using his and Artic's arua (their auras are connected) as well as gaining strength from ice. He will only do this is the worst of situations because this does take a lot of both of their energy. Also Frost can actually talk, like Canada's Kumajiro.

Arctic doesn't like the Nordics that much, purely because they took land from her and basically said she didn't rule over herself anymore and she belonged to them. She didn't like this at all, her whole life she'd had no trouble from any of the nations because they hadn't taken anything from her and she was content on keeping it that way. That is, until the Nordics came and Álgen's old trick of using snow storms to stop invaders didn't work.

Even though Arctic and England are magic buddies, Álgen still doesn't completely like the brit, nor does she like America too much either. The reason, she did have a nation long ago, before getting to the Arctic was even possible. All though it was small it still classed as a small nation. A few small tribes of people, the Saami, who had come to be there due to the previous ice age and even made knives, forks and spoons out of the metal in fallen meteors. They were blissfully unaware of any other people being in the world so they thought they were the only ones, until a party of british men and a couple americans had planned every stretch of their journey and managed to succesfully make their way into the icy continent then came upon the natives. The party took two of the children back to England in order to educate them for the modern world, however these childern died almost instantly due to disease. Also, with the group making contact with the natives, they passed on illnesses and most of those people died. The ones that survived actually traveled to the other neibouring lands and settled down away from their homeland, where it was actually easier to live. Álgen really wishes she had people of her own once again but knows that will never happened since any other settlers will not be her own people.
Arctic put this fact aside when she actually met Arthur and found they could both see mythical creatures and use magic, but there is always the thought of what happened in the back of her mind, and Alfred, she jus can't be around him too much anymore because of his constant hyperactiveness and him constantly saying he is the 'hero'.

Even thought Álgen doesn't like the Nordics that much any more she still keeps Finland, Norway and Sweden in mind, especially Finland. Tino didn't have any army but still it took a very long time for Sweden to capture him, the reason, Arctic was protecting him. She found it unfair how he was being attacked and invaded for no reason and especially by someone who was meant to be his friend. Finland hadn't done anything to anyone else so she decided to take action, however, Tino was unaware Álgen was the one watching over him. Soon though, she was unable to keep up the protective barrier which is how he was invaded.

Just before WWII Arctic was taken by General Winter after they started to fight again. Even though she puts up a good fight against him, she is just a continent while he is winter itself.

Arctic had had a few fights with Antarctica in the past and so hasn't seen her southern brother for years so she doesn't really know how he is doing or how he is copping with global warming.

Even if England can get a little annoying with his attitude towards everyone, Álgen didn't really blame him. Everyone laughed at his 'imagenary' friends and she heard some of them talking about him behind his back. Arctic could see Nigel at least but couldn't see Flying Mint Bunny, the only reason she knew it was there was because Frost could see it and ferquestly played games with Mint Bunny when she visited the brit. Álgen also had a little bit of a soft spot for him since she could see what he was like when there wasn't anyone to annoy him and knew how he felt when most nations in his empire left him.
OK so this is the bio of my Hetalia OC and I've made her because many cosplays are too expensive while this character wears clothes I usually wear, all I need is a wig, boots and scarf

EDIT: added a few details, and more might be added in future

EDIT: 01.10.2012
OK so I've changed Arctic's name for one thing and today me and ~Starlyn-Neoma were talking about Arctic and what she's like with the Nordics when we hit realisation once again and came up with a load more facts that are history related. Most of the detail was given by her. How many times are we gunna hit realisation with different topics? XD

EDIT: 8.10.2012
New fact added, it came from a RP I'm doing with a friend, its a 7 minutes in heaven thing and it works out kind of well

Don't ask that question. Our times talking about history never ends without ideas. I have a feeling it's gonna happen a lot more often...
