Lancelot and Shade came to some grand double doors, Lancelot glanced at Shade,
"Remember what I said,"
"Believe it or not I am good at following orders."
He frowned under his visor and knocked on the door, the sound echoed through the room inside indicating it was very big.
"Enter!" called a voice. Lancelot opened the door and bowed low,
"Forgive the intrusion my Lord but I have found a knight on the outside of the castle village."
"Let me see this knight."
Lancelot stood up straight and opened the doors wide so reveal Shade. She looked all around the room, it was really was big with a very high ceiling, red curtains hung on each side of each tall window and red banners with a golden dragon stitching into them and golden borders around the edges hung in to columns on either side of a walkway leading down to a great throne and upon it sat a rabbit with rich dark brown fur. He was wearing shining silver armour, a red cloak which hung over the armrests of the throne and wore a golden crown with small, round emeralds and sapphires around the rim. On both sides of him were three other knights, two on his left and one on his right. The knight on his right was a red echidna, while on the rabbit's left there was a blue hedgehog and a silver hedgehog. 'No, Sonic, Knuckles and Silver? That can't be them, wait if this hedgehog that looks like Shadow is called Lancelot then they can't be who I know them to be, and the one who looks like the king looks like Tess' father.' The wolf thought, trying to figure it all out.
"What is your business here?" the rabbit asked Shade. She looked at him and bowed then stood up straight,
"Sire, I only wish to know where it is I am."
"Where you are?" he looked to Lancelot who repeated what Shade had said to him. "Is that so? Well Knight Shade, how do we know we can trust you?"
Shade saw the grin on his face,
"Well, from your expression and body language Sire, you already know I am not such a threat, but if you are telling me to give reason then when your knight came to me and threatened me then I would have took my sword and attacked, however I let your knight hold his sword close enough to my throat to kill me."
The king's smile broadened,
"Sire?" the red echidna asked and the king chuckled,
"You have a good eye and good knowledge, I just wonder how well you fight, I would expect a knight like you will be able to read your opponent and be able to counter any attack."
"Sire, I can fight well but…" she trailed off,
"But…what? Come now, you are not too modest are you?"
"I am not sure how to fight with the sword, I am used to using my abilities."
The king looked at her closely and stood up then walked forward towards the black wolf. Lancelot stepped aside for the king to walk around Shade,
"Sir Galahad,"
"Yes my Lord," the Silver look-alike stepped forward,
"Fight this knight to test his skills."
Galahad looked at Shade,
"As you wish Sire,"
The silver hedgehog walked passed and signalled for Shade to follow then everyone else followed after Shade. They walked through many corridors with red carpets and large candles which sat in their holders on the walls while the walls themselves had oak wood panels on them. The tall windows let in loads of light and maids walked passed with cloth, clothes and trays in their hands. Again Shade didn't move her head around to look at everything, she just shifted her eyes but still she looked in awe. She had been to the castles on Mobius and Earth but they had been there for hundreds of years so to see one that people where actually living in amazed her.
After about five more minutes they reached a grassy clearing with wooden targets and the sunlight was dappled in places as the leaves on the tree swayed in the breeze and cast shadows. All around bird song could be heard and the smells reminded Shade of her home, there was not city smells just the musky smell of the plants, earth and animals. It sort of made Shade a bit more relaxed, she felt she could just disappear into the trees and not be seen again until she wanted, but she would be able to do that if she was told to leave, she would still stay close to the town just to find out information and it would be easier for her here than in a city.
"Sir Galahad, take your position over there," the king said,
"Yes my Lord," he walked to the treeline and got his sword out of his scabbard. It didn't seem like much of a sword, for one thing it was considerably smaller than Shade's sword and if Galahad wasn't careful it looked like he would cut himself on the blade that went half way down each side of the handle.
"You Knight, stand here and arm yourself. He is quite formidable."
Shade nodded and stood where the king said and brought her sword out.
"That is a magnificent blade!" the echidna whispered in surprise to the other two hedgehogs when he saw how sharp and clean Shade's sword was,
"This knight is showing quite a lot of promise, don't you agree?" the blue hedgehog whispered,
"Both of you be quiet, looks alone are not enough. We must watch his fighting style and how well it is applied." Said the ebony hedgehog in frustration,
"Sir Gawain, start this fight." Called the rabbit,
"Aye Sire!" the echidna -known as Sir Gawain- ran to the middle, "If you are both ready, you may begin!"
Straight away Galahad ran forward, sword in hand and lunged forward, Shade's automatic fast reflexes made her bring up her sword in a guard position and Galahad's weapon clanked against hers. He brought his blade back and swung at her and again Shade blocked, the hedgehog kept slashing and bashing while the wolf kept blocking. 'I can't stay in defence, I need to attack. Maybe if I can get my sword under the edges of his blade I can disarm him." She thought as she blocked another hit,
"Are you going to keep blocking or are you going to attack at some point?" Galahad said,
"Attacks need to be thought through carefully." Shade replied and kept an eye on his sword position. As he came in for another swing she lunged her sword in between his hand and the blade, Galahad's face went surprised and before he knew it Shade spun her sword round causing him to let go and let his go shooting to the ground a few paces away. Everyone looked in awe at what had happened then a sound of slow clapping came from Shade's left, she looked over and saw the king standing next to Galahad's sword.
"That was very good, you were slow to attack but it was well timed."
"Thank you Sire," she bowed. Her ear flicked to the sound of running she looked up to the treeline and trained her eyes, smelling the air as she looked.
"What?" Lancelot asked with his arms crosses over his chest. Shade shot up and dashed in front of the king just in time to cut an arrow in two.
"Rogues!" she shouted. The other knights jumped into action,
"Sir Galahad! Get our King Arthur to safety!" Lancelot shouted. Galahad nodded and ran with the king back to the castle. Under her visor, Shade's eyes widened, 'King Arthur! Of course Lancelot is one of the Knights of the Round Table! That means I am in Camelot!" she thought and whacked another arrow away,
"You better attack quicker this time!" Gawain called to the black wolf,
"I am going in I can thin their numbers for you."
"How many are they?" Percival asked,
"Around twenty," with that Shade zoomed into the trees before any of them could say anything else.
